RAD Ballet

RAD Ballet

e teach the The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Ballet syllabus at HDF. This syllabus is accredited worldwide and was created with the objective to improve the standard of ballet teaching. The RAD is one of the largest dance organisations in the world and as such RAD examinations are recognised in countries around the world.

All of our Ballet teachers are fully qualified RAD teachers. We believe that children need Classical training for the base of all their dance training. It improves ones posture, co-ordination, flexibility, agility and fitness.

Life without Ballet would be pointless...

Taking part in RAD Ballet Exams is not compulsory however children wishing to participate in Classical Ballet exams need to attend a minimum of two ballet classes a week, and must be at least five years of age. RAD seminars are held each year during the Easter School holidays to prepare students for the exams, and classes are organized by the RAD and taught by an examiner.

Students from Grade 5 upward also have a 1/2hr Pointe class twice a week, in preparation for the advanced Grades. Please note that not all children are suitable for Pointe work and your teachers will individually assess this. Children who do not do Pointe can however continue on with Grade 5, 6 & 7 and they can choose whether or not to participate in the exams.
